Well, I had a post on here earlier about me wanting a project car. Time to put the foot to the floor and look at some deals. What about this wagon? All great except for front driver quarter, which I expect is shared with the more common sedan models. For 600 bucks, it seems like a steal, and a good true project. What do you think? CP, or NP?

Speaking as someone who has owned one, and a couple things on similar chassis, here is some stuff to know/look out for.

-Poke at the roof just above the drip rails, if there is rot there , walk away. They all rot here, and by the time the rot comes through the roof skin the structure underneath is a mess.

-These are unibody cars, if there is significant rot in the rockers & floor, this can be a big deal to fix.

-All the stock drivetrains on these except the V8 are underpowered, & the automatics are terrible. If you want to be able to cruise on the highway assume you will have to make drivetrain changes.

-A *lot* of the drivetrain/suspension/brakes swaps with the early mustangs, so a lot of the parts are easy & cheaper to get.

-If the back window has been down/missing/broken for any length of time the cargo floor is almost certain to be rotted out.

If you can't start a project car, you have to assume the engine is shot & budget accordingly as you have no way to know.

-Same way, if you can't drive a project car, you have to assume that transmission, suspension & brakes are shot.
